SCHAPELLE Corby has been granted parole by Indonesia’s Justice Minister.

Corby was one of 1291 prisoners granted parole today.

However she remains in prison for the moment and it is unclear when she will be able to leave.

Earlier the boss of Bali’s Kerobokan prison says it is “impossible” that Corby will be released from jail today even if she is granted parole.

Farid Junaedi, who spent several hours today meeting with Corby and her family and Australian Consulate officials said there was still no word from Jakarta about whether Corby’s parole had been approved.

A press conference with the Indonesian Justice Minister is scheduled for 6.30pm Sydney time and no announcement is expected before then.

Mr Junaedi said the timing meant it would be too late for Corby to be released today because several Government departments are involved in the process and it needs to be done in working hours.

“We are still waiting. I am yet to know about the process in Jakarta. We are now just waiting. I haven’t receive the letter as of now.

“So, it is impossible that the release will be conducted today,” Mr Junaedi said outside the jail after the meeting.

And sources within the Justice Ministry have told News Corp Australia that the release will most likely now be delayed until next week.

It cannot be processed on a weekend or out of working hours as the Prosecutions Department and the parole authority are involved and must complete the necessary paperwork.

Earlier today, Schapelle’s sister Mercedes and Mercedes’ husband Wayan jostled with reporters on the way out of Kerobokan jail after a two-hour visit, but spoke briefly to the waiting media.

“Almost ten years she has lived here. Almost one and a half years waiting for parole,” Mercedes said.

“We are hopeful We are waiting for it to be signed,”

Mercedes asked that the family’s privacy be respected as they wait for Schapelle’s release.

“We have met Schapelle. She is healthy, she is happy, but we don’t know yet,” he said.

“As of now there’s no news yet to be about parole. We don’t know, we just can pray.”

The couple were having a meeting with the Australian consulate staff and the jail governor to discuss the details of Corby’s release.
