TrueGreen to raise up to $100m for e-mobility unit

https://www.afr.com

Impact investor TrueGreen Impact Group is readying to spin out its electric transport division,

commencing a $100 million pre-initial public offering funding round to support the growth of its majority-owned investments.

The fund, which prior to last year had been privately owned by the Tsihlis family,

invests in early stage enterprises and green projects across key sustainable sectors,

ranging from electric vehicles to property developments and Indigenous enterprises.

They’re the numbers at the nub of green transport offshoot TrueGreen Mobility’s pitch to potential investors,

as it conducts a whopper $110 million pre-IPO funding round via Goldman Sachs.

The company – which is to be spun out from impact investment firm TrueGreen Impact Group

– has been cap in hand in front of potential investors in the past few weeks,

and said it would be back with a planned IPO and ASX-listing in the coming year or so.

TrueGreen Mobility sources, manufactures and assembles electric and hydrogen-powered vehicles including buses,

trucks, delivery vans and cars, and labels itself as the company “leading Australia’s transition to zero emission transport”,

according to confidential capital raising documents in front of funds.

It said its green bus subsidiary, Nexport, was the largest electric bus supplier to the NSW government,

and was on track to deliver 200 electric buses to NSW by the end of the 2022 financial year.

GoZero gets bank backing for bus electrification

www.aumanufacturing.com.au
9 February 2024

Transport electrification group GoZero has received $80 million in asset finance facilities from the Commonwealth Bank

which will fund the electrification of the bus fleets of Sydney independent schools.

The schools, including Queenwood, Knox Grammar and Scots College, through GoZero’s charter business the NSBC Group,

will have their diesel buses replaced by battery electric buses as part of the deal.

Founded in 2020, GoZero is a leading manufacturer and integrator of zero emission solutions and vehicles for business and government fleets,

with customers such as Transit Systems Australia, Transport for NSW, UGO Mobility, South Australian government,

Tasmanian government, Woolworths and Swissport.

BurnVoir

BurnVoir acted as financial adviser and arranger to TrueGreen Mobility to fund the growth of its electric vehicle

business in Australia and New Zealand by successfully securing a

A$110 million term loan facility from Tor Investment Management, a Hong Kong based private alternative asset manager.

Tor Investment Management

The firm was founded in 2012 by Patrik Edsparr, former Global Head of JP Morgan’s Proprietary and Principal Investing Division,

and Chris Mikosh, former Head Trader of Goldman Sachs’ Asian Special Situations Group (ASSG),

to provide investors with access to the Asia-Pacific credit markets .

Hong Kong’s Tor set to take out TrueGreen’s $100m-plus round

It seems Aussie assets are the flavour of the day for Hong Kong’s Tor Investment Management.

The private alternative asset manager has made its second big local play in less than a month,

with it understood to be taking out TrueGreen’s $100 million-plus funding round for its electric vehicle division.

The impact investor announced in March that it was readying to spin out its e-mobility unit called

Nexport and positioned the mega raise as preceding an initial public offering. Goldman Sachs managed the raise.

Hong Kong-based Tor’s investment in the business comes on the back of it providing a

$135 million debt facility to toxic waste storage company Tellus Holdings,

and after it tried to derail Bain Capital’s acquisition of Virgin Australia last year.

And, just like at Tellus Holdings, Tor had to fight off some better known players to secure the transaction.

Sources said other opportunistic types sniffing around TrueGreen included Macquarie’s principal finance arm and Canada’s Brookfield.

to electric vehicle manufacturer TrueGreen Mobility, alongside Tor Investment Management,

to support its acquisition of North Sydney Bus Charters and broader growth plans.

TrueGreen Mobility is a leading Australian developer and manufacturer of electric and hydrogen transport solutions,

with its subsidiary Nexport being Australia’s leading producer of electric buses for public and private sector customers.

will allow TrueGreen Mobility to accelerate the transition of NSBC’s bus fleet from diesel to electric

– increasingly a priority of NSBC’s school and corporate customers.

as category winner for logistics and transportation.

Woolworths chooses EV trucks

EV trucks help grocer slash emissions by 60% from 2030 and net zero by 2050

WOOLWORTHS will run its entire operations across Australia and New Zealand on renewable electricity in 2025

and by 2030, hopes to have an all-electric home-delivery truck fleet of more than 1200 vehicles.

By 2030, Woolworths intends to have reduced its overall operational transport emissions by around 60 per cent compared to today,

and to have decomissioned more than 3000 internal-combustion engine vehicles from its company-wide fleet.

The latest step in this transition was the launch into service this week of 25 Foton T5 EV trucks in what the retailer said was “an initial order.”

Woolworths said the current fleet has more than 1200 trucks and all are planned to be replaced with EV models,

The Fotons will join two SAIC EV trucks and begin delivering groceries to Woolworths’ Sydney customers over the next two months.

The Foton and SAIC trucks have sufficient range to complete metro home deliveries. They each have a new,

state-of-the-art electric refrigeration system that runs off the vehicle’s battery, ensuring groceries stay cold.

Metro awards contracts for two Zero Emission Bus (ZEB) Trials

gozerogroup.com.au
July 3, 2023

Metro has appointed three firms to supply equipment for operational trials of two separate zero emission bus (ZEB) technologies in Tasmania.

The contracts were awarded following an extensive request for expression of interest and a request-for-tender process run late last year.

The successful suppliers are:

    • Foton Mobility Distribution Pty Ltd: contracted for supply and maintenance of three hydrogen fuel cell
    • electric buses (FCEB) in Hobart.
    • H2H Energy Pty Ltd: contracted for supply and maintenance of one Hydrogen Refuelling Station
    • to be installed at Metro’s Mornington satellite yard in Hobart.
    • Custom Bus Group Pty Ltd: contracted for supply and maintenance of three battery electric buses (BEB)
    • and associated battery chargers for Launceston.

In Hobart, three FCEBs will operate on a wide range of Metro routes for three years, expected to commence in mid-2024.

A FCEB is powered by an electric motor, using hydrogen gas as fuel. The hydrogen is converted to electricity on board through a fuel cell.

The FCEBs will be refuelled at a hydrogen refuelling station at Metro’s Mornington yard.

The BEBs will operate Metro services across the Launceston network for two years starting in the last quarter of 2023.

A BEB also has an electric motor with energy provided by on board batteries.

The batteries are charged by mains power via special chargers which will be installed in Metro’s Launceston depot.

These trials will provide Metro with critical operational experience and information to inform the longer-term transition of Metro’s fleet to zero emission buses.

August 1, 2023

In collaboration with Foton Mobility, BOC and H2H Energy, operator Torrens Transit will then begin internal testing

of two Foton hydrogen fuel-cell from the Morphettville depot before being released for operation.

Adelaide Metro also continues to make significant steps towards a zero-emissions future across its bus fleet,

with testing of the state’s first full battery electric bus already well underway.

A further five full-battery electric buses are on order, pending the results of this trial.

Adelaide Metro is committed to transitioning to a zero-emissions public transport system to support

the State Government’s net zero emissions by 2050 target.
