How did the inventor of mRNA vaccines celebrate her success She ate a whole bag of Goobers

*Their detector had found new proteins produced by cells that were never supposed to make them – suggesting that mRNA could be used to direct any cell to make any protein at will. “I felt like a god,” Dr Katalin Karikorecalls.
*A meeting at a photocopying machine changed that. Dr Drew Weissman happened by, and she struck up a conversation. “I said, ‘I am an RNA scientist; I can make anything with mRNA,’” Kariko recalls. Weissman told her he wanted to make a vaccine against HIV. “I said, ‘Yeah, yeah, I can do it.’”
*Dr Anthony Fauci, director of the United States’ National Institutes of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, knows Kariko’s work. “She was, in a positive sense, kind of obsessed with the concept of messenger RNA,” he says.
*Kariko’s ideas about mRNA were definitely unorthodox. Increasingly, they also seem to have been prescient. “It’s going to be transforming,” Fauci says of mRNA research. “It is already transforming for Covid-19, but also for other vaccines. HIV – people in the field are already excited. Influenza, malaria.”

“There are two things that have to happen for us to get the pandemic under control and stop the variants from appearing. We have to vaccinate the entire world and countries need to have a high enough percentage of people vaccinated – somewhere between 75-85% in order to reach herd immunity. Until that happens, variants will keep appearing and they are going to keep getting scarier and scarier,” – Dr Drew Weissman, professor of medicine at University of Pennsylvania’s Perelman medical school, who, along with his long-time collaborator Dr Katalin Kariko, is credited with the research that underpins the success of mRNA vaccines by Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna.

*After finishing his training under National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) Director, Dr. Anthony Fauci, Dr. Weissman remained at NIH for an additional four years to oversee and manage a section of Dr. Fauci’s HIV research.
*Dr. Weissman’s research has been funded by both federal and private grantors, including the NIH, Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) , the Gates Foundation, AmFAR, and BioNTech

Natural Immunity Longer Lasting Than Protection From COVID-19 Vaccines Dr. Robert Malone
*“It’s now been shown in that paper and others that the breadth of that immune response in terms of T and B cell memory populations is more diverse and more long lasting than the breadth of immune response elicited by the spike-based vaccines alone,” Dr. Robert Malone, the inventor of the class of vaccines based on messenger RNA
