Robert De Niro says he would punch ‘blatantly stupid’ Donald Trump in the face

US actor Robert De Niro has levelled a scathing attack at Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump, calling him a “pig” and saying he would like to “punch him in the face”.
“He’s so blatantly stupid,” the 73-year-old Hollywood mogul said.
“He’s a punk, he’s a dog … a mutt who doesn’t do his homework, doesn’t care.
“It makes me so angry that this country has gotten to this point that this fool, this bozo, has wound up where he has.
“He talks how he wants to punch people in the face? Well, I’d like to punch him in the face.”
De Niro made reference to the fact that in February the billionaire said he wanted to punch a protester at one of his rallies, and in March Mr Trump said he would cover the legal costs of a man who punched another protester at a rally.
The video was made as part of the #VoteYourFuture campaign, which features celebrities urging people to use their democratic power and cast their vote in the election this November.
Those who took part in the move to boost electoral participation included Julia Roberts, Leonardo DiCaprio and Samuel L. Jackson.
They were all asked one simple question: “What do you care about?”
However, De Niro unleashed into a personal tirade about Mr Trump which the producers of the video felt they could not use.
De Niro’s rant did not reflect the non-partisan nature of the project, producers Anonymous Content told the Independent.
The video comes as Mr Trump faces calls from Republican leaders to step down from the presidential race, after a video was released of the nominee making vulgar comments about women.
Former Republican presidential candidate Carly Fiorina yesterday renounced Mr Trump — making her the highest profile Republican to do so.
Long-term Republican voters are also continuing to pledge against voting for Mr Trump, including Arnold Schwarzengger who said it is acceptable to “choose your country over your party”.
